In Warriors Orochi, no one could have imagined that the armies of great dynasties, who fought through the ages in their own historical conflicts, would suddenly find themselves in a strange world — a world belonging to no known era. This was the doing of Orochi, the ruthless and mysterious demon who decided to toy with the most powerful warriors in history, placing them in a test that only the strongest could survive. With a single strike, the Serpent King Orochi tears through the fabric of time and space, creating a new twisted world that brings together warriors from both the Three Kingdoms period of China and the Warring States era of Japan — two eras separated by more than 1300 years. Orochi’s purpose in creating this chaos was to test the strength of these warriors and see if any of them were worthy of facing him.
Amidst the chaos, the forces of Shu find themselves in complete disarray following a battle with Orochi. Many of their officers are captured, others go missing, and some even join other factions. Among the captives is the hero Zhao Yun, who is taken to Ueda Castle, held by Orochi’s forces. However, he is later rescued by Zuo Ci, Yoshihiro Shimazu, and Xing Cai. Zuo Ci then reveals shocking news that pushes Zhao Yun to embark on a perilous journey with the help of unexpected allies.

Meanwhile, Cao Cao disappears during his battle with Orochi’s forces, and under the influence of a tempting offer from the strategist Da Ji, Cao Pi aligns with Orochi. Under this new alliance, Orochi orders Cao Pi to crush all opposition. Despite his apparent obedience to Orochi’s commands, Cao Cao harbors hidden intentions that begin to unfold as the story progresses.
On another front, Orochi sets a condition: rebel leaders and opposing officers must be handed over in exchange for the release of captives. However, Sun Ce is the first to rebel against Orochi’s rule. During these troubled times, unlikely alliances begin to form as Nobunaga Oda, Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Yukimura Sanada find themselves sharing a common fate — the confrontation with Orochi. Orochi attempts to sow discord among them and break their resolve, but as with every epic tale, darkness cannot reign forever. There will always be those who refuse to kneel, who resist until their last breath.
If you’ve experienced the battles of this game before, you know the thrill of facing an entire army alone and tearing through enemies with devastating strikes. But this game takes that experience to a whole new level. Here, you don’t fight with just one character — you can select three warriors and switch between them at any moment, adding a tremendous layer of strategy. Each character belongs to a specific category: Power, who dominate the battlefield with heavy blows capable of wiping out enemies and can enhance their abilities with unblockable strikes; Technique, who possess advanced defensive capabilities, rely on counters and clever attacks to break enemy defenses; and Speed, who specialize in swift attacks and striking from unexpected angles before enemies can respond.
The core gameplay revolves around three main attack types — normal attacks, charged attacks, and the unique Musou attack — in addition to the special ability of each class. The game offers only two primary modes, which are fairly similar. The first is story mode, where you follow different scenarios based on four military factions. The second is free mode, allowing you to replay the same battles using any unlocked characters without being restricted by the story.
One of the game’s strongest features is its development system. Each character can level up to 99, and weapons are upgradable with eight different attributes. Additionally, the team skill system allows you to boost your group’s performance, adding further tactical depth. With these multiple options, you can create powerful and specialized teams to tackle various challenges, giving the game a strategic dimension worth appreciating. Don’t forget about the Weapon Fusion system, which lets you combine weapons to add effects like fire, electricity, or even health regeneration — making each battle feel unique.
The maps are massive, filled with hundreds of enemies that pour in like waves, including powerful bosses like Da Ji and Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who require more than random attacks to defeat. In the end, this game is not just a fusion of two worlds — it’s a whole new experience that redefines the concept of legendary battles, where there is only one choice: fight to the end.
