Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters takes you through a galaxy filled with dangers and adventures, as the bold Lombax, Ratchet, and his genius robot companion, Clank, embark on a journey that takes them further than they ever expected. It all began as a simple, peaceful vacation on the beaches of Planet Pokitaru, where the duo was enjoying some well-earned rest after a long series of battles against villains. But as expected in their world, this peace did not last long. A girl named Luna, a fan of their heroic deeds, approached them, convincing them to participate in a short photo session to document their bravery for a school project. She asked them to fight some robots so she could capture action shots. At first, it seemed like a fun and harmless activity, but things quickly took a dark turn when Luna mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind countless questions.

Ratchet and Clank had no choice but to set off in pursuit of her, only to find themselves at the center of a conspiracy far bigger than they imagined. This was not just a random kidnapping—it led to the discovery of an ancient and legendary race known as the Technomites, long believed to be a myth from the past. As they dive deeper into this mystery, they face unprecedented challenges, from advanced robotic armies to puzzles revealing unknown secrets about Clank’s past. As events unfold, Clank uncovers a shocking truth about himself—one that shakes his very existence and forces him to question everything he once believed. What started as a simple rescue mission quickly turns into a race against time, intertwining old technology with an uncertain future, testing the bonds of friendship in the darkest moments, and confronting a destiny that cannot be avoided.

From the moment you pick up the controller, you realize that this is not just an ordinary game but a fully immersive experience that blends action, puzzles, and exploration in a way that never lets you feel bored for a moment. Ratchet, with his vast arsenal of advanced weapons, travels between planets, battling enemies with upgradable tools—from laser cannons to bizarre bomb launchers—giving each fight its own unique feel. Meanwhile, Clank offers an entirely different gameplay experience, commanding small robot units called Gadgets, which he uses to solve puzzles or overcome difficult obstacles, adding a fun strategic element to the adventure.

What truly sets the game apart is the variety of missions. It is not just constant combat; there are thrilling hoverboard races, precise platforming challenges, and intense battle arenas where you must survive waves of enemies. Even more exciting is the new armor collection system, allowing players to find and assemble different armor pieces to create suits with special abilities, such as increased damage resistance or enhanced weapon power. Every aspect of the gameplay is designed to ensure non-stop enjoyment, with smooth controls and visuals that bring the world to life, despite being a PSP game.

Once the main story is completed, players can enter Challenge Mode, where enemies become much tougher, but all collected weapons, armor, and bolts are retained. Additionally, new armor sets become available, along with a currency multiplier and the ability to upgrade weapons to their powerful Titan versions.

Since the first Ratchet & Clank game was released on the PlayStation 2, the series has been known for its vast, detailed worlds. When Size Matters came to the PSP, the challenge was how to bring that experience to a handheld device without losing the essence of the series. Despite technical limitations, the game managed to maintain smooth gameplay with well-designed levels that made the world feel alive. While the graphics may not have matched the PlayStation 2 versions, they were an impressive achievement for a handheld console at the time.

What makes Size Matters stand out from other entries in the series is the introduction of the customizable armor system, adding a level of personalization not seen before. Additionally, the game featured a multiplayer mode, allowing players to compete online or through local connections, making the experience even more engaging. While the story may be shorter than the PlayStation 2 installments, it retained the humor, adventure, and exciting twists that made the franchise one of the best action-adventure series in gaming.
